March 27, 2017

Nothing too exciting this week.  Didnt go anywhere too crazy last p day so i dont really have a lot of pics..
Love you!!!

You are turning into quite the Baker. I am glad we caught you on today, we were a little disappointed last week as you got on a different time.  Your mother had fun at my expense this last week, yes, your dad is officially an old man. I think she sent you some pictures, if not let me know I've got access to them.  Other than that, nothing much happened this last week. Katelynn came down last weekend with Brooklynn and spent the weekend with us while Jeff went up to Idaho to his moms house, it was a lot of fun. She came back down this last weekend for women's Conference, but she didn't bring Brooklyn with her so we were a little mad.

Yeah Happy Birthday you 50 year old!!!!!!!! Haha brooklyn is so cute.  I have less time today because we dont have enough cash for the full 1 hr 1'0 min.  Just an hour... Haha

I didnt get any pics.

HAHA. Where is mine?  Was that katelynns idea?

You'll have to ask Katelynn or mom, I don't know whose idea it was.

The shirts was mine (mom) and all of the rest was Katelynn. She did a surprise party for dad and he was totally surprised. We also we out to eat wearing those shirts... you can tell dad was not to thrilled, haha - but we had a great time!!!

Haha yeah its like the Lee family haha.  So awesome!
Chase,

Birthday party for Dad's 50.
I'm not sure what I've sent, but here are sime pictures.
I missed writing to you last week, I've felt really bad about that.
Things are going good with the family. Brayden did sprang his left foot while warming up (running) at his track meet. He does the shot put. It isn't too bad and is slowly healing.
I'm doing my best to greeget things organized in Scouts. In the Scout Committee Chair. This has been a positive experience so far.
I gave a talk in church a week ago. I gave it on the Holy Habits. They had me be the last speaker, which I've never done. It is hard to be ready to lengthen or shorten a talk, but it seemed to go well.
My March Madness bracket is doing okay. I picked NC to win, I'm not sure if they won or lost, but will fine out if I've gone down from 2nd place. I'm doing it with my co-workers.
Love you and can't wait to hear from you. I pray for you daily and want you to know how much I love you and I'm proud of you. Remeber to stay positive and always look for the hand of the Lord in your life. He is there for you and he will pick you up when you need it.
Love you always,
Mom, xxxooo

So Cool! Dont worry about missing last week.  How did brayden do?
LOVE YOU!

March 20, 2017

Mostly everything is in the recording.  But i forgot to mention District Mtg.  Super good.  Went over Enduring to the End.  Then, we all went around and shared our testimonies.  Super good and spiritual.
Love this Gospel.  At times, the days are super long and the work is super hard.  This past week, Satan has been trying to get me to doubt my worth as a missionary.  But I know that this is the work of the Lord.  I am his servant.  We are his servants.  Love you
Elder Moss
The Pics:  (Sorry, lot of pics, but this place we went to on P day was so gourgeos!)  The first pic is us pointing to where we are going to go.  Then there is another pic with the road in it from the top.
So pretty! We are right in the Cordillera.  Andes Mountains.  Mountains are all around us.  This little town we are working in is right on a huge lake in the Patagonia.  The lake is huge!  I love God´s Creations!

March 13, 2017

Good Morning!
Hope your Pday will be fun and productive. I've received a new calling, I'm the new Scout Committee Chair! I'm really excited and ready to jump in and get things organized. I've met with McCord already to let him know how I would like to run it and get his advice.
Things are going better with my mouth. It seems to be healing, however it did start to hurt yesterday and when I looked at it it looks like the incision had opened up. Other than that I really am doing okay.
We have still been getting bids on the basement and slowly moving forward. I'm excited for the outcome!
Miss you and can't wait to see what adventures you have had this past week. I hope you wore gloves when you cleaned up the park and I hope the dog you rescued didn't bite you, haha.
Love ya,
Mom, xxxooo

Love you too!  I have an hour as of now.  Hope everything goes good with your mouth!  Send me pics of the basement!

Bought a pillowcase - $105.  Crazy that is like $8 for a pillowcase!!  Sorry, only one they had...

You are on early, earlier than normal since you got a new comp.  We are in daylight savings time now so it is dark when I go to work but we have an extra hour of daylight at night.  How does that affect the difference in time between us?  We used to be four hours, do you guys switch?  It is almost 8am here but it normally would be 7am - you really are on early.
I forgot to tell you that we sold your car.  We sold it on our way to the airport when we flew out for our vacation in Puerto Vallarata.  We just met the kid in SLC at his bank and he got us a check and we handed him the keys and left.  We paid $1800 for it when we bought it and we sold it for $1700.  I put the money in your savings account so you have $2000 in that account.
How are things with your new comp?

So we are 3 hours difference now. We dont do daylight savings here. We have transfers next week.  Going with some investigators though at 2 (in 3 hours to go hiking or something)  SO we just got on earlier.  Still with Elder Nevins though.  But pres. came to church this past sunday.  He was super concerned about my spanish.  Then he said that he has been thinking about having me train somebody next transfer here in Villa La Angostura.  That would be crazy!!!  I will let you know.  Kind of stressed right now with my lack of spanish.
Cool!  That is great!  Did you clean it and take out my CDs?  Haha thanks a bunch.

So it is 11am there now huh?
Chase, work hard, lose yourself in the work, love the people, talk to them as much as possible and explain, "todavia, estoy aprendiendo a hablar mejor, creo que todavia podemos comunicarnos, tener paciencia conmigo, y ayudame a mejorarme por favor. Esta bien?
Sorry, didn't see any CDs, I cleaned it out a little, took out the jumper cables, but you had it pretty clean.

yeah, 11:25.  Thanks for the advice.  They were on the sun visor, but dont worry about it.

I don't remember if I updated you on basketball.  Gonzaga was #1 in the nation, the only team undefeated.  BYU lost to them at home but only by about 7 or 10 points.  We went up there and played them as the last game of the season for both teams and it was senior night at Gonzaga at home and we beat them.  It was a crazy good game.
Anyway, we went to the tournament ranked #3 with Gonzaga #1 and St. Mary's number 2.  St. Mary's beat us both times during the season.  If we won the tourney we would get an automatic seeding in the NCAA March Madness.  We won the first round then were paired with St. Mary's and lost.  Then St. Mary's lost to Gonzaga in the championship.
So, we got invited to the NIT instead.  We are seeded number 3 in the West.  Utah also is in the NIT and seeded number 3 but in another region.  The only way we could play them is in the championship so it is a long shot.  Anyway, because we are #3 we have the first round with home court advantage on Wed so we are buying tickets today, our time is in a half hour.  We are going to try and get down in the blue seats.

Wow that is too bad but super cool anyway!!!  Send pics when you go!

With the rain and snow in the mountains, my mind has kind of been tricked that it is Christmas.  Been listening to Christmas songs and took some pics with Santa and Frosty.  Haha
Had the best brand of Hamburgers in the world!  Barfy.  Whoever was over marketing there was pretty bright.
Got an American Flag in the Apartment!
Love you all!!  Stay cool!  2Nephi 32:3

Until next week.  Send my love to everyone.  Send me pics of the basement and the fam and stuff!
Love you!!!

March 6, 2017

Im on. got 1hour

Awesome.  I will text mom and let her know.
How is everything?  I had the missionary from my old mission, Elder Pena, message me and ask how you were doing.  His son had surgery or something but is doing well.  He just got transferred to Zapala.  Anyway, he said his son is hoping to serve in an area with you.
Today is Football Season Ticket selection.  We are probably going to get the same area.

We held Brooklynn's baby blessing yesterday and everyone was there and of course were asking about you.  Grandma gave the thought but really you did as she shared what you wrote about family and its importance.

yeah Elder Pena was out for a while haha.  He is better now.  His lung ruptured.  He wwas in my zone.  But now he is in zapala.  Im so jealous about the football!  Have fun.  How many tickets are you buying?  Still 4?
That is awesome that brooklyn got blessed!  That is cool with grandma, im glad i could give her some inspiration.

Yea, we are going to get 4 again, we just discussed it this morning and mom said she would go with us.
The tickets went up in price again.  Last year they were $750 and this year they are $900.  We get a 20% discount putting them at $720.  There are 13 games this year - is that worth 13 games? $55 bucks a game per person?

that is what she says every year. haha.
$55 is a lot. but those were so much fun.  It obviously doesnt affect me, but if i was home i would want to go.  Haha i hope to keep going when i get home

Gonzaga was the number one team in the nation.  29 and 0, undefeated.  BYU beat them last weekend and they dropped to number 4 in the nation.  We got 3rd seed in our West Coast Conference tournament.  We beat Loyala Maramount Saturday and take on St. Mary's tonight.  We have lost both times to St. Mary's they are ranked about 20th in the nation.  If we beat them then we take on Gonzaga (if they beat Santa Clara tonight, which of course they will) for the WCC Championship.  If we win the Championship we get an automatic seed in the NCAA March Madness.  If we don't win we have to be invited, which might happen since we beat the #1 team, but it is iffy.

That is insane!!!  Lone Peak!!!  Haha let me know how it ends up!

Does this work?  It is 5 min long long so i didnt know if i could send it over email.
Are you saving my recordings?

It is 5 min and 25 seconds long and 14.9 megs.  I think 15 megs is the largest you can send so you are pushing it but it worked.
Yes, we are saving everything in a mission folder in our gmail so you will have all emails and all attachments.  I am also posting the email text, pictures, and voice recordings on your blog.

Cool!  I think i will send a recording and pics for the week instead of spending my time typing.  So much easier that way.
what is the blog again?

spent $125 with the marriott.
Bread dough and scone recipe?  I want to make scones
No bake oatmeal cookie recipe?  Like those chocolate ones.
Granola bar recipe?  Brownie recipe?  And other recipes that you think i might like.

That charge came through as $8.16 US Dollar.
You need 6 ingredients to make bread dough which instead of baking can be used in hot oil and fried to make scones.  Warm Water, Yeast, and Sugar (or honey) put together to active and feed the yeast.  Flour, Salt, and Oil added to it and mixed.
The ratios are basically as follows but you have to add flour slowly until it becomes not sticky and manageable so the flour is not exact.
1 Tablespoon Yeast
1 Cup Water
1 Tablespoon Sugar
2 Tablespoons Oil
1 Teaspoon Salt
2-3 Cups Flour
After mixed let sit at least a half hour or until doubled.  Punch down and form loaf and bake at 375 for 25-30 minutes or stretch into scones and fry in hot oil.

Can you maybe convert those into mL?  Like how many mL is in a cup?  And how many tablespoons in a cup?

1 Cup is 240 ml
1 Tablespoon is 15 ml
1Teaspoon is 5 ml
There is 16 Tablespoons in a Cup or 15 ml X 16 = 240 ml

where is that?  Is that the pizza place we went to once?

No, it is Zabb Noodles.  An asian fusion type restaurant.  We got Pho, curried noodles, Pad Thai, etc.  It was pretty good.  Davey was nice and picked it because I had a Groupon there.

That is cool.  Well i got three minutes so see ya next week!

Going to try sending the majority of my week in a recording about 5 min or so.
I´ve really noticed that i use the Atonement more as a missionary than i did before.  Some people may be confused by that because we often think of only using the Atonement when we sin.  Here in the mission, i guess i have just come to realize that i need it more in my life.  I need it for the little things.  I need it for my struggles and hard times.  I need it constantly.
Also, lately, i have thought a lot about less actives in the church.  Here in the branch here, there are so many less actives.  Less actives are like fence sitters.  They wont pick a side.  They are sitting on the fence between the Lords side and Satans side.  The problem is that Satan owns that fence and those less actives are in peril.  They are being deprived spiritually.  I love the members here- actives and less actives alike.  But sometimes i get frustated with these less actives.  This has also strengthened my testimony of Home and Visiting teaching.  I always knew it was important to do that, but before coming here, i greatly misjudged the value and importance of home and visiting teaching.

More pics.  Including that used tp bucket  :)

February 27, 2017

I took a few pictures of our trip to Puerto Vallarta. We had a wonderful time!

So dope!  That is cool!  Just flew?

Jasek is going to Houston Texas, English speaking leaves in 6 weeks.

Dope!  That is so cool!  Tell him i am excited.  give him my email too  Or give me his

I will give him yours and see if he has his, so I can pass it to you.

Couldnt really think of a subject line.  Haha.  But it is true. Had to go for like 4 days without Q-tips.  :)  I bought some today though.  Dont worry.
Lets see.  Its been a good week.  One day i fell asleep during personal study (i am always so tired)  haha but the Lord chastened me later in the day.  I got bit by a dog.  haha its was pretty good.  Left bite marks and saliva on my pants.  Didnt draw blood though- darn.
There is a guy we found in our area book that says not to go by because he has threatened to kill missionaries in the past.  So what did we do?  Haha you betcha we went by him!  Haha so funny.  Its true, he does not like missionaries.  Didnt threaten to kill us though.  :)
I have really seen what that scripture in D&C talks about when it says that if we teach by the spirit and they recieve by the spirit, we are both uplifted.  We have had a couple of lessons like that this past week.  Those are the best.
On saturday we got asked to speak in church. we got asked to speak on Missionary Work!  Haha for the 3rd time in a row.  Since i have been here, either we, the missionaries, speak in church, or someone in the Branch presidency does.  I have spoken like every sunday so far.  Haha.  But this sunday the branch president wasnt able to come because the highway was blocked so my companion conducted and a member presided.  Haha.  We had 3 investigators in church though!  So good.
Pics-  Slept on a bus ride to zone conference.  Finished up comp study with a prayer.  Elder Nevins didnt get up after it-He slept for like 15 min haha.  Some pics from the bus ride.  And a selfie with my sweet patagonia shirt.

What time is it there again.  Are we four hours different.  It is 9:25 here

1:45 right now. What is the low down with money?  Same charge on both cards?  Which is better?  I spent $135 on a mate and straw with the zions card.  Did you get the pic from a member here?

Yea, 4 hours.  I included the details on the cards in my other email but in short use the marriott.
Did not get the pic from the member.

I got a text from a couple who was visiting. She sent a picture of you, your companion, and them.
It was fun to see you with them! You are looking so good!
Mom

So use the Marriot card for turist puchases and stuff?

Yes, both those other purchases charged an extra 4% on the zions.  Use if you need it.

The pasta with hot dogs looks like what we had in Puerto Vallarta.  I wanted good mexican food and they fixed stuff like that.  We liked being there on the beach for 5 days but didn't like the food too much.
Both cards were charged .87 cents, so the exchange on each is the same.  But the Zions also added a foreign transaction fee where the Marriott didn't add that.  It isn't much, about 4%.  Yes, the Zions bank can be used as credit.  I don't know how it is there, but here if I use it and it comes up asking for a pin I can press cancel and it defaults to credit.
We didn't send any other letters, just the one with pictures.  We wanted to try that.  Maybe I'll send another to the other address you gave me and we can see if they both work.
Buttermilk Syrup is pretty easy.  It is equal parts buttermilk and butter and the same amount as those two in sugar heated till boiling then you take off the heat and add baking soda (it will foam a lot so make sure the pan is big enough or it will spill over) and vanilla and stir until the foam goes away.
1/2 Cup Buttermilk
1/2 Cup Butter
1 Cup Sugar
1 teaspoon Baking Soda
1 teaspoon vanilla (optional, but makes it better)
Most Chocolate Chip bags have a recipe on them.  But you just need fat, eggs, sugar, flour and chocolate.
1/2 Cup Fat (Butter is best but you can use shortening)
3/4 Cup Sugar (use 1/2 white and 1/2 brown or all brown)
1 Egg
1 1/4 Cup Flour
1 Cup Chocolate Chips
I also like to add a little salt (like a pinch or 1/4 teaspoon) and vanilla (1 teaspoon) but you don't have to, this just kicks it up a little.
Use soft butter and mix with sugar well
Add egg and vanilla and mix
Add salt, flour, and chocolate chips and mix just till combined well
Put in dollops or balls on baking sheet and bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes.
Our missionaries here are sending out an email to all the bishops and ward mission leaders in the stake 4 times a week (Sun, Tue, Thur, and Sat). Every ward is listed and then under the ward name the missionaries list what teaching or contacting they did in the ward for those two days.  It has been really good.  I don't want our ward to be blank so it has motivated me to invite people to listen to the missionaries.  Just an idea, I know you may have different capabilities and certainly a different demographic there but it is working here.  One of the families I invited to hear the missionaries accepted and have a baptism date on March 11.
Davey's birthday is tomorrow and we are going out to eat at Zabb Noodles in Salt Lake tonite.
Mom went in to get her implant post put in her jaw and then heal for another 6 months and then she could get her new tooth.  While drilling it the bone cracked under her nose so instead of putting it in they put in more cadaver bone and she will have to grow more bone for another 6 months and then drill again and let that heal for another 6 months.  She is pretty discouraged with her front teeth.  She has been in bed since Friday and is not going to work today.
How is the new companion after another week.  How are things going?  We want you to be happy and enjoying the work and haven't felt that it has been that way very much.  Dixon, I think, is going through the same thing with companions that don't want to work and he, being new, is kinda not doing what he knows he should be and is feeling a little guilty about it.
Jacek got his call to Houston.  He is pretty stoked.  He is going through the temple this week.  Allie Kirkham is going through to get married next month.
Love you and miss you tons but know that you doing what you should be at this time in your life.
Dad

Sweet with everything especially that baptism!

Recipes for you

Cool, we will try these.
